The concept car’s interior is designed in such a way to take advantage of its flat floor. It can accommodate up to four people, with each siting comfortably on a bucket seat. To facilitate maximum flexibility when it comes to placing cargo, a center console is cantilevered from the seats.

As we wait for the 2013 Audi A2 Concept to hit the roads, exactly how much the car insurance for the production model will cost is yet to be seen. Well, that waiting won’t be long.

The layout of the Audi A4 vehicle comprises a longitudinally-oriented engine at the front and trans-axle-like transmissions positioned at the engine’s rear side. Generally, the models of the vehicle deploy front-wheel drive system, though there are some models that feature quattro all-wheel drive.

It implemented a front-wheel drive mechanism and a front-mounted, longitudinal engine. With the German automaker’s quattro four-wheel drive system, a wide variety of the A4 were also available on the market. And used Audi A4 of that first design remains a hot sale! That said, the original version of the A4 was unveiled as a 4-door sedan, and its Avant wagon was introduced a year later.

A wide variety of internal combustion engines were sold on European markets, between 1.6 and 2.8 liters for gasoline engines. A 1.9 liter diesel engine was also available with VW’s trademark VE technology, with the capability to attain 66 KW; 89 bhp (90 PS) or 81 KW; 108 bhp (110 PS). However, Audi’s carried-over 2.8 liter V6 engine was the only available option in North America until 1997.

Innovative hood system – the concept uses a fabric hood which has become the trademark of all Audi’s open-top designs. The hood automatically lowers itself at the touch of a button in a Z-fold behind the rear seats in only seventeen seconds. Converged at the short-stepped boot lid are the convertible design and SUV functionality. When it’s closed, it becomes a continuation of the hood’s coupé line. On the other hand, it lifts high enough when open, with the glass rear window automatically lifting simultaneously, to yield a surprisingly-large space.

Surely, this is not a question of “if”, but “when” will it happen. Well, the way it is at the moment, it’s up to anyone’s guess, because only Audi can correctly answer that question! But what we’re certain about is that this model will not be the last to come in the company’s quest to innovate the advancement of alternative drivetrains.

When we tried to reach Audi on the phone, we were told that the company’s spokesperson wasn’t available for an interview. However, they promised to send us the specs as soon as possible. Designed as a pure electric concept car, this reincarnated A2 dumps its previous small MPV body in favor of a five-door hatchback, which in large part is smaller than the notable Audi A1. We’re yet to get full details about specific configurations of the prototype. Audi is keeping quiet about the specs, but said they will be made available to the general public at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. But the exclusive information Audi Concept has about the new vehicle indicates that the body isn’t entirely made of aluminum, which largely characterized the original model.

Other information we gathered from an Audi insider who is familiar with the design indicates that the 2011 Audi A2 Concept will feature a flat interior floorboard, a rear console that stretches between its two rear seats, a center console fixed to the driver’s seat and four individual seats. The vehicle will be propelled by what Audi said is a powerful electric drive mechanism for long range and agile performance.

For the time-being, we have to take Audi’s word regarding the new concept car, since we haven’t seen it live and test-driven it. But then, the Frankfurt show is around the corner, and so, we’ll not be waiting for a long time.

The general outlook of the 2011 Audi A2 Concept is so much intriguing, because it exudes luxury and sophistication. Surely this is a car designed to grab a lot of attention!

Since the introduction of the concept car was announced a few days ago, it has been creating a lot of buzz among auto enthusiasts and prospective purchasers.
