We’ve already gotten three Audi Grand Turismo series, namely the Audi A5, the A7 and A8, and yet Daniel Garcia – a renowned Spanish auto designer, thought we should have another one to complement the earlier models. The outcome of modeling a captivating, sporty representative layer car is what we see in the new Audi A9 Concept hybrid sedan.
With a wide and low body that has passengers’ seats almost in a lying position, the Audi A9 concept car delivers a remarkable high speed and insurmountable comfort at the same time. There won’t be any need to open the rear doors frequently, since the driver will not be having passengers that often in this sports car that rivals the Porsche Panamera. The designer has left many automobile enthusiasts to ask the category of people the car is meant for and what it actually does. Well, that’s up for anyone’s guess! However, we at Audi Concept presume that even with a limited edition, the A9 will surely grab a lump size of the overall world auto market.
The talented car designer, Daniel Garcia, created the sports concept sedan as a proposal to the innovative German auto manufacturer, Audi. His previous designs included the 2009 Ducati 6098 concept vehicle. The designer believes that futuristic Audi cars developed to accommodate four people need to incorporate options for the next-gen Audi developments, a variety of full-featured multimedia functions, special scratch-protective covering and either full electric or hybrid systems.
The A9 was evidently designed to outclass and outperform the Audi’s present flagship A8 model. Actually, the concept sports car stands toe-to-toe with the ranks of the dashing Porsche Panamera, and if the auto company decides to let it go into production, it will certainly compete favorably with Lamborghini Estoque.
The A9 concept’s styling was in part inspired by the remarkable architectural design of Santiago Calatrava’s structures in The City of Arts and Science (La Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias) in Valencia – Daniel Garcia’s hometown. The influence is remarkably visible in the futuristic styling attributes and the clean, flowing lines of the concept car. If you’ve been to Valencia before, you will notice that Calatrava’s building give the impression of those yet to be built in about 100 years time, and so does this Audi A9 concept.
The vehicle’s roof and the single-frame windscreen are built with a peculiar nanotechnology material that sports an automatic system for damage repair. It can as well be freely adjusted for opacity and color. The Audi A9 concept car’s bodywork also includes a unique electronic painting feature, which means you can easily change the car’s color by simply touching a button.
For the drivetrain of the A9, Garcia proposed an advanced hybrid system that combines four in-wheel electric motors with an internal combustion engine.
